Toilet Extract Ventilation Cleaning

Toilet extract grilles are often responsible for blocking airstreams when they become dirty. Scientists in China have found that faecal bio-aerosols can transmit Covid-19, with toilet extract grilles testing positive for the virus. Therefore, keeping toilet extract grilles clear of blockages and free of dust is more important than ever. These findings highlight the spread of COVID-19 and other viruses through ‘aerosolised faeces’.

NAADUK’s COVID-19 ventilation hygiene guidance states in article 5.4 that extract and return air grilles must be free of restrictions or blockages caused by foreign matter. Additionally, article 13.4 recommends obtaining training on HVAC sanitising and building sanitising to supplement duct cleaning.
